I shop ahead. I probably told you this last fall, too. My family has birthdays in November, December, and January, so if I didn’t plan and shop ahead, we’d be in foreclosure by February. Amazon Friday sales are my favorites. So is Kohl’s Dept Store on sale days with my store card and its discount!

I’ve been making lots of jams, pickles and relishes this summer to give as gifts later in the year. Much less expensive than a bottle of wine and most people seem to appreciate home-made treats.

I purchase toys for children (i have a young brother and some nieces/nephews and cousins) when they go on sale or clearance and stock them up in a box for their birthdays and christmas. Usually when thier birthday roles around i don’t even have to go shopping, i just pull something out of the box. I also purchase sale candles to give as gifts to grandmas. But my biggest secret: i stock up for next year on boxing day sales. I buy genenric things (candles, bath gear, picture frames) and some specific things for people that i know in a year they will still love. Saves a TON of money and shopping time when you’re in a crunch. Or when you recieve a christmas gift from someone you didn’t plan on recieving anything from and now need to reciprocate. WOrks great!
