I also meal plan which saves not only money, but greatly reduces weeknight stress. The one thing that works for us is to make a big meal on Saturday and Sunday nights. This way we have leftovers for Monday and Tuesday--which is a lifesaver!

I can totally attest to the power of meal planning. Another thing that my family does, that really does help in many areas of our life, is to sit down and plan our week. Then we know exatly what's going on, who may be working late, who has a late game, etc. That way when we plan our meals, we know ahead of time when we need to plan the crock pot meals, or make sure we have enough left overs. That really helps me, since I'm out the door by 6am.

I host a forum for "FlyLadies" at Delphi (http://forums.delphiforums.com/flyladies/start) and can attest to the power of menu planning. You save money for so many reasons, and generally end up feeding your family much more healthfully, too. I am going to post a link to this blog entry at our forum for our Fly Babies. :)

That is a good question about the supermarket circular. Ours gets delivered in the mail midweek with other "direct" mail, and then I use it/refer to it as I plan meals. This delivery obviously makes it easier for me to access the circular so I don't have to take a separate trip to the store. If yours doesn't come in the mail, you might be able to access it online. Let me know if this information helps to clear that up.

I have a question - I have the advice to shop by the sales brochure many times, but how do you actually do this? Do you go by the store earlier in the week/day to pick one up, read it at home and then plan from it?

Or do you plan your meals as you walk around the store doing your groceries with sales brochure in hand?

I am not very good at planning meals on the fly.....
