Leap Day Deals and Freebies

February 28, 2012

leap day dealsLeap Day happens just once every 4 years. Imagine if you had a Leap Day birthday–that would stink that you couldn’t “officially” celebrate your birthday but every 4 years? Anyway, because February 29th seems to be a “magical” day on the calendar, lots of businesses have put together freebies and deals to get you through the doors. I’ve rounded up as many of those deals and freebies as I could find. If you hear of others, please post a comment to let other Suddenly Frugal readers know the details!

    • You can get free food at Chick-fil-A in the Houston-area. On February 29, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., enjoy a Spicy Chicken sandwich on the house One per person. (Thanks Houston the Cheap for a heads up on this freebie in the Houston area.)
    • Dine at a discount at Buca di Beppo! Bring this coupon with you to enjoy a meal for 4 for only $29 on 2/29/12. This prix fixe menu includes salad, a pasta dish, and dessert. What a great deal–that comes out to a little more than $7 per person!
    • Get a free cookie at Subway when you purchase a meal there on Leap Day.
    • Lunch is on Einstein Bros Bagels–when you buy one lunch sandwich, you’ll get another for free. Click the Get Offer link on the Facebook page and an email coupon will be sent to your inbox. This freebie is not only good on February 29th but actually is valid through March 4. (Thanks Houston the Cheap for info on this freebie; I hadn’t heard about this one before.)
    • Some deal sites are saying that you can get a free cup of coffee at McDonald’s in the New York Metro area. When I visited the New York Metro McDonald’s website, I found this freebie instead: BOGO (buy one get one free) Big Mac or Sausage McMuffin.
    • Caribou Coffee will give you a free cup of coffee on leap day when you buy one coffee and you show this coupon–either printed out from your computer or on your mobile device. (Thanks to Cities on the Cheap for telling me about this BOGO deal.)
    • Sticky Fingers is offering pulled pork sandwiches at a discount on 2/29/12. You’ll pay just $2.29 for one of these sandwiches, when you order fries and a drink. You must bring this coupon with you to get this deal. (Thank you Kansas City on the Cheap for sharing the details on this deal.)
    • While not technically a Leap Day Deal–though you can take advantage of it on February 29th–this double freebie was too good not to mention. Go “Like” Arby’s on Facebook, and then you can print out a coupon for a free drink and curly fries that you will get when you purchase an Arby’s Reuben sandwich. This deal is good through March 11th.
    • I believe this coupon deal expires on Leap Day, so here you go: Get a $5 printable coupon for Logan’s Roadhouse when you Click Here!

  • Frontier Airlines is having a Leap Year Sale on airfare. Frontier flies from 65 cities, including some major metro areas. These discounted fares must be booked by before midnight on 2/29/12 and must be used by May 9th.
  • If you’re a leap year baby and you happen to be in Las Vegas on February 29th, you can get free admission to the Madame Tussaud’s museum there. You just need to show ID to prove your birth date.
  • Receive an Arthritis Guide booklet for free! (This deal expires on Leap Day, which is why I’ve included it.) This booklet addresses comment arthritis topics, including:
    – Knee Pain Relief
    – Healthy Eating Tips for Arthritic Inflammation
    – Exercise Management Tips
    – Symptoms and Treatments
    – And moreā€¦
