Yesterday, I finally took advantage of last week’s penny deals at Staples. I was able to get filler paper for three-ring binders for a penny each. Because Staples requires you to spend $5 on something else before the penny deals kick in, I perused the clearance rack for good prices. Boy, did I find them.
There were 10 packs of BIC pens on clearance for $.50. Even better, I had a BIC coupon for $1 off any 2 BIC pens. That meant that the first two packs of pens I got were free. I stocked up on the rest to get me to the $5 threshold, and then checked out with my penny deals.
For the week starting Sunday, August 12th, here are the best prices on school supplies at Staples:
FREE (after rebate)
- Zebra Z-Grip Retractable Ballpoint pen ($4/$4 Easy Rebate=free)
10¢
- Staples composition books (limit 3)
25¢
- Staples #2 pencils (limit 2). With all the standardized tests my high schoolers have to take, these are a must to stock up on!
50¢
- Staples slider pencil case (limit 2)
- Staples dual size pencil sharpener (limit 2)
- Two pack of hand sanitizer (limit 6)
$1
- There are nearly a dozen items marked at $1 each this week!
On a related school supply-shopping note, I happened to stop into SuperFresh (in the same family as Waldbaum’s and A&P) for food shopping after my trip to Staples. There I discovered that the supermarket had its own penny deals–specifically, spiral notebooks for $.18 each. These were the college-ruled kind, which my daughters have told me they prefer, so I bought two in every color. There were 4 colors to choose from, and I walked away with 8 notebooks for only $1.44. Even better, there was no minimum purchase necessary, and no limit to how many I could buy at this great price! Note: this sale at Superfresh is good through Wednesday, August 15th.
