I’ve noticed that when I click on my “News Feed,” even the pages and brands I have liked aren’t showing up anymore. So instead of getting important news on Facebook, I’m often left to rely on emails that brands may or may not send out.
So what’s the problem? Facebook wants brands, big and small, to pay for the honor of showing up in your News Feed. However, there is a workaround and it is free for both you and me to use.
Facebook has added a feature called “Get Notifications” that will help you see the posts from your favorite pages. This feature works just like when your friends comment or “Like” something you’ve done on Facebook–that “globe” on the top of your Facebook window will light up with a red number.
In order for you to “Get Notifications” from Suddenly Frugal, go to the Suddenly Frugal page and follow these steps:
- On the top right you’ll see a box with the word “Like” in it.
- Click on that if you haven’t already.
- Hover your mouse over the “Liked” button until the drop down menu shown here (right) shows up.
- Make sure that “Show in News Feed” is checked.
- Then check “Get notifications.”
Now whenever I post something new on the Suddenly Frugal page, you’ll know right away. You can do this with ANY page you like on Facebook.
Remember, the best way to get every single post is to subscribe by email. You’ll get exactly one email every morning. This email will contain links to all the posts written in the previous 24 hours.
Thanks to Charlotte on the Cheap for sharing this workaround idea!
