Last Minute Ideas to Save on Valentines Flowers

February 12, 2013

Are you going to be one of the four in 10 Americans that will buy or send flowers for Valentine’s Day? If you still haven’t figured out where you’re going to get those flowers or how to save money on Valentines flowers, I have some ideas.

First, see if there are any daily deal sites offering savings on flowers. I know that in Philadelphia where I live, Amazon Local has a Teleflora voucher available through Feb. 13 to save 50% off Valentine’s Day flowers. (If you haven’t yet signed up for Amazon Local deals, you can do so through my affiliate link above.) Both Groupon and Living Social had offers earlier in the month as well. Any chance you bought one and forgot to cash it in? I’d suggest checking your inbox!

Next, find out if sites will be running sales. ProFlowers, for example, is offering a 20 percent off discount to last minute Valentine’s Day customers on its entire inventory of flowers and products. Consumers can visit and enter MINUTE20 at checkout. Late shoppers can place orders until 6 p.m. EST on Feb. 13, 2013 and ProFlowers will guarantee delivery in time for Valentine’s Day. ProFlowers is also charging $19.99 for flowers through a separate special, and FTD has a Valentine’s Day deal going on right now.

Finally, think about buying your flowers somewhere offbeat. Whole Foods might have the cheapest roses around. Many Whole Foods locations, for example, will have bunches of two dozen fair trade roses on sale for $24.99 for Valentine’s Day. I’ve seen cheaper flowers in Trader Joe’s, too.
