LEAH INGRAM BIO, BACKGROUND AND EXPERTISE

Leah Ingram is a freelance writer, lifestyle and frugal-living expert, and experienced speaker and spokesperson, based in the Philadelphia area. She founded the Suddenly Frugal blog in 2007.

Leah is the author of Suddenly Frugal: How to Live Happier and Healthier for Less, which compiles Leah’s unique money-saving advice, including how a family can save $25,000 a year. Her second title in the Suddenly Frugal series is Toss, Keep, Sell!: The Suddenly Frugal Guide to Cleaning Out the Clutter and Cashing In.

Leah has brought the Suddenly Frugal message to life via media interviews and paid speaking appearances at colleges, libraries, business associations and other organizations. Here is some of the feedback from those talks:

Leah Ingram is an engaging speaker who obviously loves sharing her ideas on how to enjoy life without spending lots of money. Her enthusiasm is contagious and she has a great sense of humor.  Our women’s group thoroughly enjoyed her presentation.

Leah Ingram gave an enthusiastic talk that was “spot on” for our Princeton-based audience. Her presentation was professional, informative and fun. Leah was receptive to the large, interactive crowd by answering questions and elaborating on specific areas of interest. And she was easy to work with!

I reached out to Leah as both an author and a professional speaker for Financial Pathways at Bay Path College, a financial literacy workshop series for women. Leah’s blog and her “common sense approach to frugal living” set the stage for a very timely topic of “living well within our means.” Leah spoke to an group of over 140 women covering a multi-generational audience, ages 18-70+. Her presentation was exactly what I had expected. I would recommend Leah for similar engagements.

Media-trained while an editor at Woman’s Day Special Interest Publications, Leah quickly became the go-to expert for on-air demonstrations of family-related topics, including gift tips, etiquette advice and shopping suggestions. She does monthly frugal segments on “The 10! Show” on NBC 10 in Philadelphia, and she’s appeared on “The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric,” “Good Morning America,” CNBC’s “Market Wrap, Business Week TV, ABC News Now and “Good Day New York.” among other programs. In addition, she’s acted as a spokesperson for many national brands, including Bank of America, T-Mobile, Starbucks, and Valpak. You may have also read her frugal-living advice in publications such as Good Housekeeping, All You, and Parents magazines.

When not appearing on TV, you can find Leah blogging on Suddenly Frugal and Philly on the Cheap, her two frugal-living sites. Leah also blogs daily on home-related topics for Home Goes Strong, the NBC Universal website for midlifers, and weekly in her “Deals of the Week” column for Next Avenue, the PBS website. In addition, Leah is the author of 14 books, including Gifts Anytime: How to Find the Perfect Present for Any Occasion and The Everything Etiquette Book: A Modern-Day Guide to Good Manners.
